In it we watched a video. In the video, Elder Oaks quoted President Monson as saying, &#8220;In reality, you can never love the Lord until you serve Him by serving His people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You might read that as saying that when we serve others we are also serving God, and that&#8217;s a good way to show our love for Him.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight I got something different from it.<\/p>\n<p>We develop love for others by serving them. That&#8217;s why parents love their children so much &#8212; because they have done so much for them.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the same with our feelings toward God. We develop love for him only by serving him. We can serve him only by serving others. So, serving others is not only how we <em>show<\/em> our love for God, it&#8217;s how we <em>learn to love<\/em> Him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heather gave a family home evening lesson on service tonight.
